Vira Mae Cummings Patton was born January 30, 1945, in Lee County unto the late Helen
Williams and E.D. Cummings. She departed this life Monday, September 27, 2021, in her home
in Verona, MS. At an early age she joined New Zion MB Church and remained a member until
death. She attended College Hill and graduated from George Washington Carver in 1963. She
retired from Purnell/Marshall Durbin after 28 years. She loved listening to gospel music, helping
others, and enjoying life.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Constance Cayson (Kevin), Anthony Cummings,
and Shamaine Pannell. Her siblings: Eunice Williams, Wanda G. Cummings, and Clara Isby. Her
grandchildren: Kevin C. Cayson (Jasmine), Kountess Cayson, K'miayus Cayson, Kyrin Cayson,
Keawvis Cummings, Danquise Montgomery, Jermiyah Young and Jaylen Edwards. Great
grandchildren: Kadence Cayson, Kristopher Cayson, Prinston Montgomery, Dallas Cayson, and
Kevin Cayson, JR.(KJ) a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Henry C. Porter, and grandson, Lorenzo
Antonio Cummings.
