On November 13, 1989, Samuel Earle Watson was welcomed into the Watson troop by his parents, Allen and Angela Watson. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, and his nephew, Allen Marquez Ross, affectionately known as Que. From the moment he arrived, he was a force to be reckoned with. His personality and heart were huge! In his home in Centreville, IL Sam shared a loving relationship with each of his siblings.

Sam accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a child at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church where he was able to be baptized by his father.

Sam went to school in Baldwyn, MS, making it his business to get to know everyone he came across. He was proud to have led the Bearcats to their State Championship during his senior season. After high school, Sam enrolled in Northeast Community College, but ultimately found success in Foster's Barber College. Sam shared the craft of cutting hair with his father, his older brothers Edward and David, and eventually his younger brother Eric. Many days were spent with the boys cutting hair in the kitchen and on the carport. His craft ultimately took him to Ole Miss and the NFL, allowing him to reach a dream of using his gift on a national stage. Outside of being a barber, Sam loved the kids! He was an expert uncle and godfather. He would spend hours with the nieces and nephews, yelling from the sidelines at basketball, softball, and football games.

He also came up with his name for each of his nieces and nephews. As much joy as he found coaching and being with his nieces and nephews, nothing could compare to the joy he felt when his first child, Oaklyn Sarai was born. He and Oak were inseparable. Then as if his heart could stand it, Samson Creed came next. He was so excited to have a son- so excited that he named him Sam-Son!

Sam built a life with his love Carmen, and together they shared parenting of their tribe, Amya "Mya", Ke'Marion "KD", Oaklyn "Oak", and Samson "Boogie". They went on many adventures, up and down the highway, hanging with family and enjoying each other. Their final family adventure was a trip to Disney earlier this year.

After a lengthy hospital stay, Sam ultimately answered the call of his Lord and Savior on December 1, 2025.

Sam leaves to cherish his memory his children, Amya Anderson, Ke'Marion Lockett, Oaklyn Vasser, and Samson Watson; his parents, Rev and Mrs. Allen and Angela Watson; his siblings, Eddie (Markezzy) Fisk of Tupelo, MS, Valerie Wiggins of Cahokia Heights, IL, Allen Ross of Atlanta, GA, Edward (Robbye) Wiggins of Booneville, MS, Anthony (Tristal) Watson of St. Charles , MO, Alicia (Roberto) Smith of Swansea, IL Bryan (Brittany) Watson of Baldwyn, MS, David (Ebony) Watson of Yankton, SD, Cara Watson of Eugene, OR, Eric Watson of Tupelo, MS, and Nathan Watson of Saltillo, MS; his uncles, Nathaniel Watson of Cahokia Heights, IL, Michael Watson of East Saint Louis, IL, and Anthony (Tracy) Wiggins of Alton, IL; his aunts, Allean Patterson of Cahokia Heights, IL, Annette (Vinsell) Graham of Cahokia Heights, IL, Caren Turner of Belleville, IL, and LaVerne Peters of Detroit, MI; his god-children, La'honestee Malove Rivers, Braylen Brown, Nikinedi Brown, and Kohen Brown; 11 nieces, 9 nephews, and a host of cousins, friends, players, teammates and clients.
