Bro. Lee Ellis Birks was born in Nettleton, MS, November 24, 1933 to the late Olive Birks and Katie Griffin Birks.
He went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2016.  Hr profesed a hope in Christ at Palestine United Methodist Church.  He later joined Trinity C.M.E. Church in Guntown, MS.  He was a faithful member until his health failed. He was a member of the steward and trustee board.  He truly loved his church.
He was employed with Faucette Petroleum for over fifty years.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Evvie Wade Birks in 1962.  He was a devoted husband for 54 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Modena Merritt.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Evvie Birks of Guntown, MS; a sister, Mary Anna Burt of Peru, IN; five sisters-in-law, Rhetta Richardson of St. Louis, MO, Kinlock (Marshall) Bell and Joycelyn Berry both of Hattiesburg, MS, Jo Ann McGaha of Guntown, MS and Annie (David) Mayes of Indianapolis, IN, and one brother-in-law, Mark (Mattie) Wade of Guntown, MS; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. a special caregiver, Tony Young of Guntown, MS.
