John G.
Mcgaha
Oct 13, 1947 — Oct 2, 2025
Baldwyn
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, John Garfield McGaha found eternal peace with Jesus Christ. He
was born on October 13, 1947, to Robert Lee McGaha and Lillie Mae Spencer McGaha. He
joined Mt. Olive M.B. Church at an early age where he remained until his passing. He worked
for C.S. Poole construction, Mid-South Packers, and Daybrite Lighting.
Like all the men in the family John loved vehicles, especially a candy red Cadillac he drove in
the 70's. He would only let you drive it if he or his mom were riding. He had a love for toy
tractors and made many by hand. He had a special place in his heart for all children and no
matter if you were male or female; he always called you "boy". John also loved hunting and
"eating off the land" as he called it.
John's memory will be cherished by his loving, caring and devoted daughter, Quanda "Connie"
McGaha (Jonathan Barnett) of Okolona, MS; three granddaughters, Ellisyn Barnett, Gracelyn
Barnett, and Jada Baker; three grandsons, Khyland McGaha, Kejuantaye Davis, and Darron
Harrison; one brother, George E. McGaha of Baldwyn, MS; two sisters-in-law, Joann McGaha
of Guntown, MS and Fannie B. Spencer of Tupelo, MS. Two bonus children, Redicia Betts and
Troy Stokes of Okolona, MS. A host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, eleven brothers, three sisters and his best
friend/right hand man, Tyrone Pippin.
