James R. Gates was born September 23, 1946
in Okolona, MS to the late William Gates and
Ethel Lee Hayes Gates. He departed his life on
Sunday, September 12, 2021 at NMMC.
He was a member of Red Oak Grove M.B.
Church. Robert was a truck driver for many years
until his health failed him. Robert was a loving
person who never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his wife,
Alberta Price Gates; his parents; his daughter,
Loretta Price; his sisters, Emma Gates, Louise
Gates, Luevada Gates, Ethel Gates Tubbs, and
his brothers, William Gates and Oscar Gates.
He leaves to cherish his memories, (2)
daughters: Tara Gates of Tupelo, MS, Olivia
(Anthony) Moore of Baldwyn, MS; (1) son:
Timothy (Beverly) Price of Tupelo, MS; (1)
brother: James Earl Gates of Tupelo, MS;
grandchildren: Javion Gates, Tamekka Scales,
Tyrone Price, Coco Price, Paris Vanorsdale and
Timothy Price (Jr); (3) special sisters-in-law:
Georgia Ruth Gates, Gayle Eades and Betty
Price; a special niece and caregiver: Denise
Burchan, and a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
