Hazel Doris Barnes was born September 22, 1952 in Simpson County.  She was the daughter of the late Houston and Rosalie Barnes.  She departed this life Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Atlanta, GA.  She was the mother of one son Chad F. Barnes of New Orleans, LA.
She graduated from Mendenhall High School in Mendenhall,  MS. in 1971.  She received her Bachelor Degree in Education from Jackson State University.  She taught Special Education in Louisiana Public School System over 30 years and touch many lives.
She was truly a person for others.  Hazel was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed her help and left a lasting impression. Her conversations would warm the soul with her conviction that you could make it. Even when in doubt, you knew that you had a person in your corner who wants to see you flourish.
Her elegance and style was something to marvelous.  Hazel's eye for fashion led many of her friends to seek her advice, which included interior decorating, and fashion for Balls and Galas. (Please let's not forget about her legendary "red beans".)  She was an awesome woman. The true definition of strength and support but tenderness and grace that epitomizes what we think of in a lady. Hazel Doris Barnes will be missed.
