Diane
Burress
Dec 9, 1957 — Feb 17, 2026
Tupelo
God saw that you were getting weary and tired
So, he did what he thought was best
He came and stood beside you
And whispered "come and rest"
Mrs. Diane Griffin Burress was born on December 9, 1957, in Tippo, Mississippi to her wonderful parents Percy Lee and Mary Ann Griffin. Diane received her education through Milwaukee Public School system; after attending Rufus King High School she went on to further her education at Milwaukee Area Technical College and Marquette University for Pre Law.
Diane joined companionship with Mr. Michael Burress in 1974, which turned into an everlasting love for over 50 years, she held Michael's hand in holy matrimony on September 30, 2004. Diane dedicated her younger years to raising her 4 children and being a homemaker. Diane relocated to Booneville, MS in 1996 before moving to Tupelo, MS as her permanent residence.
Diane was baptized on November 6, 2021, at The First Pentecostal Church in Booneville, MS. Diane, a vibrant and social individual, had an innate ability to spark conversations with anyone. Her perpetual happiness and laughter made her the life of every party. Diane, who enjoyed journaling, turned to writing to cope with her declining health in 2020. She documented her experiences and thoughts in her journal. She relished helping people, which led to a surge in customers who valued her ironing services. Her passion for ironing remained unwavering even after she relocated from her small laundromat in Tupelo to her own home. She also cherished spending time with her family, engaging in activities like fishing, listening to music, and cooking. Diane had a keen sense of style and loved expressing herself through her clothes, shoes, purses, and jewelry. Above all, FAMILY held immense importance in her life. She was always there to lend a helping hand, offer words of encouragement, and share her wisdom to all that crossed her path.
Diane Griffin Burress transitioned peacefully at her residence on February 17, 2026, at 9:57AM, surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her daughter Tawanna "Wanna Boo" Griffin and her parents Percy L. Griffin and Mary Ann Griffin.
