Anzella Regina Hughes, 63, passed away peacefully at her home on March 5, 2021, surrounded by family. She was born in Lowndes County, Ms on September 17, 1957 to the late Robert Thomas Washington and Margaret Elizabeth Harris-Washington. She was the second oldest of nine children. Anzella graduated from Okolona High School in Okolona, MS in 1975. She attended Rust College on a music scholarship, but had to cut her time short when her grandmother became ill. Anzella dedicated her life to serving Christ. She was a member of Black Oak M.B. Church. Anzella was known as a mother to many young people she met. She loved talking to younger people and encouraging them that even though they may have gone astray, God still loves them. She would provide her additional children with wisdom, a meal, clothes, or even just her beautiful smile. In addition to helping the younger generation, she also loved elderly people. She would take them to their doctor appointments, take them food, and just simply do things they needed done around the house. She was big on respect, so that was her way of showing her respect and appreciation to them .
